I just wanted to share some success. I usually avoid confrontation until I have no other choice but to dive in. And dive in is what I do. I (in the past) have over reacted so badly that I look like a lunatic. Today I had a situation with my 20 year old daughter. I was so upset by her apparent lack of respect etc. Instead of just starting to yell at her as soon as she walked in the door, I took a minute to think about the 4 agreements. I calmly told her we needed to talk and asked it it was a good time. I used impeccable speach and tried not to make any assumptions. I tried to do my best and remembered that its probably not personal. Just thinking about these things helped me calm down.

Way to go, lisa!! Communication -- and conflict resolution -- are so much easier when it's approached calmly and respectfully. The more you can practice stuff like that, the more it will become second nature to you.
