Jody, you did a great job presenting this topic. I find myself tearing up while reading all the posts. I don't do inner child work - my T doesn't do that stuff. But it has brought up memories and thoughts that are difficult to verbalize. I just have images of myself as a small child. I feel that people have never truly understood me and I have felt totally invalidated most of my life. Whatever is in my personality - child, adult, whatever - she has been invalidated. Even though I was loved dearly by my parents and other family members, I felt that I was never able to be who I truly am meant to be. I want to be that person now. I find that I apologize a lot for things that I do, because of the old invalidation. I hate having to do that. I know it's my choice to apologize, but I fear the invalidating words that I'm afraid will come at me. I don't understand why I am not allowed to be who I am. I find myself lying to certain people because of it. Not major lies - just white lies. This is no good. I'm going to have to talk to my T about this.

as i said, BG, this work meshes perfectly with the Tools and CBT.

if you choose to add it, i wish you luck. if not, its ok as we all have our own paths to walk with this journey.
